Finally, It's Here! The newest version of Aquarium I.D. App!!!!

Already by far hands down the best app of it’s kind,  currently AquariumID Version 3.2 has an all new look & feel, and has many newly  added features and abilities for the end user that are quickly making Aquarium ID an indispensable tool for any marine enthusiast, casual user, vacation snorkeler, anyone visiting a public aquarium or fish store, up to the seasoned reef tank aquarist; this app will quickly tell you what you are looking at with pictures, text, info on it’s origin, diet, behavior ,what it will or will not get along with and much more.
Version 3.2 is loaded with information, pictures, videos, links to shopping for equipment and livestock. How to build your own equipment , or DIY videos, how to manage pests like hair algae, all about lighting, filtration the list is extensive.
We have also added many more species of animals, many more instructional and how to saltwater videos, a search function for the species, better social interaction and the “share feature” which allows you to share your pictures (or takes one from your camera), include a short description if one wishes, and upload it to the MeetReef Saltwater aquarium social forum (our base of socialization along with Facebook of course) via AquariumID. Seriously, if you like saltwater fish, corals or specifically reef tanks, you should really download this fantastic app.
Here is the opening screen, which is the Species Tab:

Here you can see how you can peruse through a section, or just “Search” for a specific species you want to get info on. It is easy to use and beautifully done.
We have joined forces with MeetReef.com, our new saltwater aquarium forum hub, under the “Socialize Tab”. We have our own AquariumID Group there, but you are directed to the MeetReef home page first, as this is where the plethora of marine aquarists meet for all things saltwater related; discussions, the sharing of experiences and pictures takes place.

As you can see, the landing page for the “Socialize Tab” shows the most recent activity on MeetReef.com, and gives you some options to Like, Comment, post, reply, say hi, ask questions, share pics, etc.. A very nice place to land for a saltwater networking site. Of course, what would Socializing be without a Facebook wall to visit as well, so we have included our  AquariumID Facebook “Wall”:

This is where you will find your uploaded photos from the “Share” feature, Like and comment on photos and of course another great social avenue for discussions and postings from all our AquariumID users.
 THE GUIDE: WOW.
Here is one screen shot from the lighting section:

Where to Start? This tab is loaded with too much to talk about here, so I will attempt to give you a feel for it's usefulness and sections;

How about we start by opening up the "Basics" button under the "Guide" Tab. Wow!

As you can see, this section is just loaded with features from acclimating fish to fragging corals...with videos on many topics some people are sometime not too clear about.  The "what's in my tank" tab features a personalized record keeper for what you sea critters you add to your tank.  The calendar works as a reminder for your aquarium routine maintenance.

The converter is a simple, yet darn useful tool for converting units of things like Length, Weight, Volume, Heating, and Temperature into various units:

Shown here is the new Calculator.  When I first used it, I was wondering "what the heck is this thing calculating;

So I chose my units (Inches or CM), entered the dimensions of a new aquarium and how deep I wanted my sand bed, then hit calculate.  It reported back with:

My tank volume, in Liters and gallons, how many KG or pounds of salt of 35ppt, how many KG or pounds of live rock needed, how many KG or pound of substrate to get, what sump pump to use in LPG, WaveMaker suggestion in LPH, skimmer processing recommendation in LPH and what Wattage heater to use.  Well, that can certainly be darn useful too.

Those are a few of the options available under the basics section of the Guide Tab.  There are right now 5 more tabs in the Guide: Basics, Water, Lighting, Nuisances, Feeding and Filtration.  Each one of these are rich in content information, video and suggestions as the rest of the app.  A virtual Swiss Army Knife for everything marine reef related.

Here are a few screen shots from the great section of Nuisances, and how to deal with them.

AquariumID has taken a quantum leap in the fresh new version 3.3 update due out soon (above shots are from Ver.3.2).  I will certainly let you all know when the new 3.3 is released very soon, because this will be a big one as far as updates go.
Things are of course only going to be getting better with the release of this latest Version 3.3. In Version 3.3, the Search feature will go beyond just the “Species” tab and will be global, so that rather than browsing through the Guide or Species tab for something of interest, you can simply search for anything in the database, such as hair algae, protein skimmers, testing, any fish species etc. You can watch videos on most subjects.
There are many new write ups in Ver. 3.3, such as the ones on saltwater ICH, different food varieties and more. There are better quality images, 100+ new species, It is even easier to navigate with the search option.
Interested in a Macroalgae..Just look it up:

 There is a section with 115+ LFS (Local Fish Stores) map with navigation, websites, phone number, and email (Apple ONLY for now).

There are sections for Shopping for both Saltwater Equipment and Marine Livestock, with links and phone numbers from a hand picked set of reliable vendors and professionals.

Stay tuned as there is much more to discuss, especially when Version 3.3 is released. I’ve got goose bumps waiting for it. There is a lot of man hours and professional teams working on this AquariumID project. Throughout this blog I have tried to avoid using the word “epic”, but there, I said it. I’ve been in the hobby for over 15 years and have never seen anything like this app. I love it, and so will you. And for the price, my goodness, what saltwater enthusiast would not want this tool on their smart device; It is after all as I said, the best of it’s kind.
Thanks for stopping in and reading today. I hope you take full advantage of the information laid down here today and download yourself a copy of our app from either Google Play Store (as AquariumID search). or the Apple i-Tunes Store, or simply scan this QR code with you smart device, or click on it:

Please feel free to leave any comments or suggestions you may have for the app, after all, that is how it has been built from the ground up; Besides all our hard work, it is the end user suggestions that are so valuable in each new release.
